Interesting fact:

The statue of William, Prince of Orange, has stood at the end of Voorhees Mall since 1928. The piece is a replica of a statue erected in Holland's Hague museum by artist Lodewyk Royer in 1848. In 1926, the Holland Society of New York gave the statue of Willie to Rutgers intending it to serve as a symbol of the College's Dutch roots. Tradition has it that Willie whistles whenever a virgin walks by his post. Tradition also has it that he has not whistled once since he's been here at Rutgers...feel free to draw your own conclusions!
